My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She is the dog version of Snow White, petite perfection and a friend to all the animals. She is friendly, greeting people calmly and gently, lives with kids, chickens, a cat, and a senior dog. She is petite perfection and her name is Hazel.

Hazel has an undeniable cuteness in her petite frame, she grabbed everyone's attention as soon as we saw her. The collective AWWWW’s and baby talk were enough to show us her cute little tail wag and that little pittie smile, which just led to even more AWW’s. Hazel is est. to be 10 months old and weighs 30 lbs, hence the “petite-perfection.” She has a touch more growing to do but she will always be on the small-medium side of the spectrum. We cannot guarantee age or breed given she is a rescue but we believe she is a pittie mix, the mix part is what we lovingly call the Texas special, a whole lot of this and a few shakes of everything else. Take a look in her Get-to-know Hazel video then come back to read more. https://youtu.be/0knuXXAGBGw

Hazel has great basic leash skills and will polish up to perfection with you by her side. Once we introduced Hazel to other dogs, we quickly saw she has great dog manners, is dog-friendly, and perfectly playful. With dogs that are not interested in playing with her, she is respectful, never pushy, and just fine moving on to something else. When paired with a mid-energy level, playful dog, she showed us a glimpse of her as a fun- loving and easy-going playmate. We would love to see her in a home with an equally playful, but relaxed dog. The best part, whether its on leash or playing in the yard, she checks in with her people often so you don’t forget how cute or adoring she is.

So much of Hazel’s wonderful personality can be shared thanks to her adoring foster family. Hazel has been so fortunate and is waiting out the days before adoption in a foster home where she is refining all the skills to be the best girl once she arrives home. They praise her ability to learn and her constant calm with their little kids, 1.5 y/o and 6 y/o along with their chickens, cat, and senior dog. She is both house and crate trained as well! She will thrive as a family dog in a home where children are respectful of pets and as a family, understanding of the time it can take for them to feel at home and at ease. She would do best with a low to medium-energy dog that is not pushy and won't overwhelm her. If things become too overwhelming or chaotic, she will calmly retreat behind a person for reassurance but by nature would prefer an environment that gives the same calm and ease that she does. She fits right in on a small piece of homestead here in Tx. and know that she could easily be just at home in your neck of the woods with your pets and animals. A yard and some space to explore suits her so well but a home with a yard is just as perfect as a "farm."

This girl won the hearts of everyone she met, and the word “perfect” was used just about as much as “good girl” was said. Hazel knows a few basic commands and is ready to learn more. Treat-motivated and eager to learn, Hazel should be a breeze when it comes to training. A Snow-White cutie like Hazel will not be available for long, so if you are interested, fill out an adoption application today and get the process of bringing her home started.

We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews:
https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.
While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
