My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who is Bella? She's a cheese connoisseur, a wiggly low-rider, and a lover of the booty scratches. Most of all, she's a dreamer who is used to the comforts of a home and is hoping for her second chance at love. Bella lost her home after Hurricane Helene. She was understandably unsure about her transition to shelter life, but the difference from the scared girl we first saw to the bubbly, goofy Bella we see now is night and day! She still takes time to warm up to new people and does best with folks who take it slow and respect her personal space, but once she gets to know you, Bella is an affectionate chunk of a lap dog!

The key to making Bella's day is simple: give her some quality snuggles and a plush squeaky toy, and she is the happiest girl on Earth. Because she's easily overwhelmed by the energy and enthusiasm of kids, we think she'll be happiest in an adult home. She is open to pooch playmates and does best with dogs her own size or larger. We know that the joy of a happy home is out there for Bella! She's ready to be someone's soul mate. Could you be the one to make her dreams come true?

More about this shelter

Asheville Humane Society is about hope, not heartache. As Buncombe County’s critical safety net since 1984, we are always here to save and protect every animal. We have mastered the art of saving lives within our walls and now we are going even further, helping our community’s pets and their people thrive together. We are going beyond a no-kill community to ensure that each animal has the quality of life they deserve – a life worth living.
