Meet Chia!
Chia is a calm, lovable companion who adores belly rubs and cuddles. This sweet boy is house-trained and even uses a doggie door! Chia is non-destructive and has been a perfect gentleman when left alone, so he doesn’t require crating.
While he’s a bit of a picky eater due to missing some teeth, he enjoys canned food and is always curious about what you’re eating! He’s gentle with treats and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. In fact, he loves sticking close to his foster sibling, Tiger, and is indifferent to backyard squirrels, making him likely cat-safe.
Chia is fantastic with kids, as proven by his calm and curious behavior during a lively Christmas gathering. He loves meeting new people and charms everyone with his sweet nature. While he doesn’t have an interest in toys yet, that may change as he grows more comfortable in a loving home.
He walks well on a leash, enjoys car rides, and always wants to be with his humans. Though he may have some hearing impairment, it doesn’t hold him back from being the best companion.

All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT. Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort.
If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, or in some cases in our very small private kennel facility on Martha's Vineyard and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A large majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation.
