My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I’m Darby, a pretty 1-year-old Terrier mix with a shiny black and chestnut brown coat, weigh 18 lbs, and I am lucky to be alive! I had 6 minutes left before I was euthanized at a San Antonio “kill” shelter when out of the blue, 4 Little Paws Rescue made a phone call and saved my life! Whew! That was a very close call. Literally! I am a girl who loves wholeheartedly and bonds deeply with my humans. I might be scared when we first meet, but if you let me set the pace, I’ll come to you asking for love when I’m ready and then all bets are off, there is no turning back, I’m yours and you are mine and I’ll believe you hung the stars and the moon. I’m playful, love doggy toys, and can rip the stuffing out of a toy in record-setting time. I am sassy, and free-spirited, sometimes stubborn and talkative, and all personality. I’m friendly with other dogs but am choosy about my doggy housemates, and I’m more of a people dog anyway and wouldn't mind being the only dog in my new home. I’m smart as a whip, already housebroken and I don't freak out when left home alone. I am certainly one of a kind and I am looking for a love that lasts forever. I hear the Eastern Seaboard is the place to be, so Inquire about me today!

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
