My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Bonita and it is nice to meet ya. I am one of the most fun, absolutely gorgeous and loving little ladies around. Life is great! Honestly, I am just very thankful. Life is great now but for a moment there it was not. I am a young lady who found herself in a local animal shelter with a very serious injury to my tail. I was also very early on pregnant. I waited on stray hold terribly uncomfortable for my family to come get me and they never did. Luckily for me a nice lady from CAWS came by the shelter and noticed me. Despite knowing their only guarantee in helping me was a vet bill, CAWS sprung into action. The next thing I knew I was being put in a cat carrier and taken to a wonderful vet office where unfortunately, my tail had to be amputated. It is ok. I am no longer in pain and I survived! CAWS found me a foster family to help me recover. I have been living with them ever since and the first thing they will tell you is that I am totally worth it all!!
I am the sweetest lady. I love attention and seek all of the affection you will give me. I want to be involved in everything that you are doing. If we are in the kitchen making dinner or watching tv, crafting, fixing anything, folding laundry, whatever, I am game to be doing it all with you. I do not have a favorite tv show so the remote is all yours. I will take the lap. I love to be pet. I am a pretty vocal lady so you will not have to worry about where I am or if I need anything. I will let you know. I am adventurous and curious. I have had so much fun exploring every inch of my foster home While my favorite thing is being with you, I do realize that you have stuff to do. I can entertain myself. I like toys. I have had a lot of fun with pom pom balls and feather mice but if you really want to get me going, a shipping peanut is all you need. I discovered a whole box in my foster home and it was game on!!! Do not worry if you do not have any shipping peanuts, my foster mom is happy to send me with some. In the end, I will play with anything I can bat around with my paws and chase so whatever you have will be fine with me. I also like to take long naps in the sunniest spot I can find, or in an empty basket or in my foster sisters Jelly Cat pile. They are almost as soft as me. I currently live with other cats of various ages, a sweet dog and teenagers. I get along great with everyone.
My ideal home is one where I can be involved and included in everything. As you can safely assume, I am not a cat to be ignored. I have a big personality. I am so thankful for all of the care and love that I have received. I can not wait to shower my new family with all of the love and gratitude that I have. As long I get lots of attention, I can be a single cat too. My foster family has so much more they can say about me. If you would like to hear more or even possibly think I am a match for you, please just reach out to us. As you can safely assume from what was said above, I am one special little lady.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read about me. With love and gratitude, Bonita. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationJanuary 9, 2025, 6:00 am

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
