My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This special little senior lady is MINA - a very sweet and loving Shih Tzu mix who is likely between 10-12 years old and about 15 pounds. Mina is a happy, sweet, loving dog who likes nothing more than to be with you and receive belly rubs. She is a plucky lady who is confident once she knows her surroundings; she also enjoys going for walks so she can check out the neighborhood. Mina is friendly with new people, good with children, comfortable around small dogs and indifferent to cats. This sweet girl will welcome you home with snorts and tail wags and then lay by your feet to be close - she doesn’t jump up on furniture. Mina wants nothing more than to be close to you, feel safe, and receive your loving attention.

Mina did not receive any health care for many years and had untreated medical conditions upon rescue. Mina has no vision in one eye due to cataracts requiring daily eye drops. Additionally, she was diagnosed with Cushings Disease, a condition that occurs when a dog's body produces too much cortisol, a steroid hormone, so Mina requires daily oral medication to manage the condition. The good news is that after taking this new medication for only a couple months, her foster parents have seen good improvement in her general condition. This girl holds a special place in our hearts due to a lifetime of neglect. Mina deserves a loving, diligent adopter who will take good care of her for the remainder of her life.

This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, tested for diseases, provided inoculations, been dewormed, neutered, and microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.  Our online application isn’t working correctly so please contact us so we can send a copy via email to you.

All dogs and puppies live in foster homes, providing you as the adopter, with information on the animal's behaviors, needs, and requirements. We are always in search of fosters care providers. If you are one of those special people willing to open your heart and home to an animal in need and would like to receive information on how you can foster an animal, please contact us.

More about this rescue

A Caring Place, is an All Breed Dog Rescue organization that is exclusively foster based (no facility) and is volunteer run. We rescue dogs and puppies from animal control facilities, dog pounds, and other shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia. In addition we take in dogs surrendered by their owners who can or are no longer willing to care for their dog. Each dog this rescue takes in receives all medical care and treatment necessary to be healthy, and then place them into loving temporary homes (foster homes) until adopted. Without our foster care provider's, we could not save these dogs.

FOSTER CARE PROVIDERS are always needed!
