My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Note: Butters must be adopted by a family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who can commit to taking him to his final puppy vetting appointments with PPR's vetting partner. These appointments have already been made and their cost is covered in his adoption donation.***

Hi, I’m Butters! I’m a Pug – Chihuahua blend and I’m just 14 weeks old. At around 6 lbs, I may be tiny, but I have a huge heart! I just want a family of my own to love.

  • General Behavior: According to Butters’ fosters, he’s absolutely wonderful. They’ve taken him several times to the farmers’ market or for walks down Park Avenue and he struts confidently down the sidewalk and loves all the attention that he gets. He looks very handsome in his sweaters too.  After a busy day of modeling and cuddling, he sleeps in a people bed at night and is quite the snuggler.

  • Likes & Dislikes:  Butters has a lot of playful energy and loves toys and loves to steal socks. He also loves going for car rides.

  • Training:  Butters has very good manners for a young puppy and his foster thinks he’ll be very easy to train. He’s very smart and is doing well with his housetraining when he’s let out frequently. He walks well on a leash and is well behaved in the car. For future training, it helps that he has a very healthy appetite and he loves the occasional treat.

  • Medical: Butters is a healthy boy! He’ll just need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.

  • Other Animals:  Butters has been living in a home with 5 other mixed-size dogs and he is doing well. He is very social and loves to play tug of war and wrestle with his foster siblings. There are also cats and other small animals in the home and Butters does well with them, too– he’s a lover not a fighter.

  • Children:  Butters is currently in a home with a 10-year-old boy and he loves it. His foster thinks that he would do well in a home with children who will play with him all the time – he loves the energy.

  • Home: Butters could live in an apartment/condo/townhome or single-family home: he’ll just need daily walks and outdoor play time.

  • Grooming: Butters should not need too much elaborate grooming, apart from regular brushing.

  • Overall: Butters will make a great companion dog for any family who can give him a lot of love.

Has Butters buttered you up? Do you live in the Central Florida region? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $500.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
