Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Pippy is a shy gal who’s learning to trust the world at her own pace. While she may initially seem shy, this special girl has a heart full of love. With a little time and patience, Pippy warms up beautifully, leaning in for pets and even curling up in your lap for a snooze.
Pippy thrives in quiet, calm environments where she feels safe. She’s made incredible progress in our care and loves to show her sweet side once she knows she’s in good hands. If you’re looking for a loyal friend who needs a little extra TLC to blossom, Pippy could be the pup for you!
Eligible for rescue and adoption. Meet Pippy at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Behavior notes:
01/09/2025 staff notes: Pippy did much better outside today! She was easy to leash, but still exited her kennel hesitantly. in the room Pippy did a big stretch and then gave low wags and began to solicit from her handler. She allowed all over handling today without issue and was opening so much with us! She was tolerant and layed in her handler's lap slowly closing her eyes and falling asleep as she was getting pets.
01/08/2025 volunteer notes: Pippy is a scared shy girl who needs time and patience for her to open up. When I approached Pippy in her kennel she immediately went as far back as she could in her kennel. I tried throwing treats in but she would quickly grab them and take them back to her bed which was all the way at the back of her kennel. I was able to leash her but it did take a few tries and once she was leashed she walked out of her kennel. (She never growled the whole time in her kennel) I took her to the big run outside where she picked a corner and stayed in it. I sat on the ground hoping if I got lower it would make her feel more comfortable. When I sat down she came out of the corner and sat right next to me. I offered her treats from my hand which she took and she allowed me to pet her too. I decided to also take her in the volunteer room as it was quiet in there and could help her since it’s not noisy. In the room she approached me and let me pet her. I was very patient with her and we spent a good amount of time in the room where she ended up crawling in a ball and sleeping which was nice to see. At one point i sat against the wall and she came over to me and leaned against me. She just needs some time and patience but is a really sweet pup!"
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
In the kennel, Pippy was on her bed and curled up in a tight ball and growled when the handler opened the door with whale eyes. The handler reached in with a lasso and she flinched away but the handler was able to secure her and she left slowly.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING :
In the room, Pippy ran under the table with wide scared eyes and a tense tight body. She allowed us to give her some treats and even took it from our hands. She tolerated me touching her head but lip licked and gave me some whale eyes. The handler was able to use some leash pressure to get her from under the table and walked around with her on leash. She had a tucked tail and a tense body. The handler tried some handling but she had really wide eyes, tucked tail, and looked back at the handler slowly.

01/06/2025 Staff notes: Very sweet and shy!
Medical notes:
1/08/2025 medical staff notes: When approaching kennel pt was ducking head and very tense, staying in the same spot. I opened the kennel door and offered treats, pt ate them willingly and even gave a little tail wag. I made a trail of treats to have the pt get closer to me and it was successful. Pt was fearful and ducked from my hand when reaching over her head. I was able to leash her and get her out of the kennel, pt was flinching and trying to get away from the noise while walking through to the exam room. When in the exam room, pt allowed all pets and was very tolerant of PE & x-rays being taken. She is very sweet and likes to cuddle on your lap once you've gained her trust.
