Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Groot, our ultra-adorable and pretty perfect purebred Yellow Lab, who is about to turn two years old on January 18, 2025.
Groot was surrendered to us by a family who had his sister as well but found themselves overwhelmed with 3 kids (9, 10, and a baby) and two large breed dogs. He was not surrendered due to any fault of his own; in fact, the family surrendered him because it would be easier for him to find a home than his sister.
That being said, he is dog and kid friendly, and even good with cats! He visited the dog park several times and has never met a dog he didn't like, or that didn't like him! He walks well on a leash. He is housetrained and crate trained, however, is fine to be left in the house without being crated when nobody is home.
Groot would love to have another dog in the home. He does not like to be left alone for too long, or he will try to find other dogs and/or his people. When he is crated in the home, however, he is by himself and does not have a problem. But in the yard, he could get into trouble if left by himself.
Groot is microchipped, has received his vaccines, and is neutered. He is fostered in Sarasota and his adoption fee is $400.
If you would like to make this fun and incredibly handsome guy part of your family, please complete an adoption application at https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adoption-process.
If you have an adoption application on file with us already, please send an email indicating your interest to Info@Love4PawsFL.org.

We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.
Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
