My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tilly! Tilly is a 1-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix with a beautiful
white and black coat. This quiet, calm, snuggly, sweet, and loving little
girl is looking for a forever home where she can be someone's perfect
companion. Tilly adores snuggling under blankets, being held close, and
giving kisses to everyone she meets. Her talent for burrowing under any
blanket will make you smile every time you can't find her - check the cozy
spots! While Tilly is pee pad trained, she's a bit stubborn about going
potty outside, especially if the grass is wet. She's also not a fan of
having her ears cleaned or wearing sweaters but is wonderfully patient and
gentle about it, showing no aggression-she just puts her little legs into
action and runs away! Tilly is very respectful of other dogs and enjoys
cuddling with them but doesn't have much interest in playing. She would
thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, as she loves
being near her people. She hasn't been around kids yet, but her easy-going
personality and gentle nature suggest she'd do well with children who know
how to handle small dogs carefully. Though she's still working on leash
walking and outdoor potty habits, Tilly is a dream in other ways. She
doesn't bark, is content in quiet environments, and would do wonderfully in
an apartment or condo setting. Tilly is current on vaccines, and her
adoption fee will include her future spay. If you're ready to make this
sweet snuggle bug a part of your family, contact us at

More about this rescue

Carolina P.A.W.S. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization comprised of a network of compassionate Carolinians, all of whom are volunteers. We are devoted to helping abandoned and abused cats and dogs throughout the greater Charlotte area find loving homes. CPAWS does not have a facility and relies entirely on volunteer foster parents to care for an animal until we are able to find a pet their forever home. Our founding members have been collectively involved in animal rescue for over 20 years.

Carolina P.A.W.S. volunteers can be found "in the trenches," rescuing animals at high risk- those starving on the streets, languishing in shelters, and suffering in abusive situations. Each animal has a different past but our promise to them all is the same…a second chance. We provide them with medical attention, rehabilitate them physically and emotionally, and care for them in foster homes until they can be placed in loving permanent homes.

Along the way, we prepare them to become wonderful companions by taking the time to socialize them and patiently teaching them to trust. We also spay/neuter each one, provide all inoculations, and ensure that they are in perfect health before being made available for adoption.
