My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo is looking for a new home where he can get all of the attention, he craves.

Leo is a 4.5-year-old, 52 pound Aussiedoodle (Australian shepherd/Poodle mix).  He is very sweet, playful and friendly.  He absolutely loves attention and wants to be part of everything going on! He loves to be the center of attention, whether it be lying beside you being petted, playing with toys inside, playing ball in the back yard or going on a walk or run.

If his family members pet another dog in the home, he rushes right over to get his attention too. He is not pushy or grouchy about it, but he can annoy another dog simply by being himself. He is also very high energy and wears out his housemates very easily with his high energy. He should not be in the home with a senior dog. And any dog housemate he has to be young and high energy and willing to share cuddle time. He would also be very, very happy as an only dog and the focus of his family.

Even if he doesn’t have another dog in his home, he loves to play with the dogs. Therefore, he would love to have the opportunity to play with other dogs (doggie daycare, or friends/family with dogs).  He does best when he gets some exercise which can be a walk or playing fetch in the backyard.  He walks well on a leash but does need an experienced owner because he will want to go say hi to or play with everyone he meets.   Also, because he loves to go say hi to everyone, he will need a fenced in backyard.  He is housebroken, crate trained, and rides very well in a car or golf cart. He has never been around cats.

Being a poodle mix, he will need regular grooming with a professional groomer and daily and weekly brushing and hair care to maintain his coat.

We believe he will be perfect for an active person or family who includes him in many of their activities such as walking, running, hiking, etc.

More about this rescue

The Fayette County Humane Society (FCHS), staffed entirely by volunteers, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported entirely by individual and corporate donations. Because we do not have a shelter, all of the animals we rescue live in temporary foster homes until they are adopted. We believe that all companion pets have intrinsic value and should be treated with the reverence and care they deserve.
