My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Circe

Circe is a young Cane Corso with a big heart to match her size. Despite her large stature, she is incredibly gentle and a little shy. Once comfortable, she is an absolute love bug and will be at your side as a loyal constant companion. Circe loves a good game of fetch, and it's the quickest way to her heart.

Circe has lived with other dogs before and would likely be alright with another dog with slow, careful introductions. She can be quite fearful of strangers when she first meets them and therefore she would do best in a quieter home with patient furever parents willing to show her love as she comes out of her shell.

We are looking for a local foster-to-adopt home while she awaits her spay surgery.

The Centre is open Tuesday - Saturday Noon - 4 pm for Walk-Ins.

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
