My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Apollo the standard Poodle! I'm almost 2 years old and I weigh 42 lbs. I'm on a mission to find a forever family. In return, I promise to love you to the moon and back! Read on to learn more about me.

  • General Behavior: Apollo just wants to be the apple of his people's eye! He loves as much attention as possible, but when his foster is busy, he will lie down on blanket in my office or kitchen and naps. At the end of the day, he will place his head in your lap getting petted for entire movie or ball game. He is generally an active, chill, very sweet boy!

  • Likes & Dislikes: Apollo loves people-- especially those people who give him lots of cuddles! He plays with toys occasionally. When he gets in the mood to play with his furry toy or ball, he carries it around or plays a little fetch.

  • Training: The Apollo training program has been a success so far! He is housetrained if let out regularly, he is a good passenger in the car, he walks well on a leash, and he generally has good basic manners. He just needs to work on distinguishing the trash can from the toy box and not leaning on people too heavily.

  • Medical: Apollo is a healthy boy. He just needs his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.

  • Other Animals: Apollo does well with other dogs of all sizes! He hasn't been observed around cats yet, but his foster thinks he'd be OK with them.

  • Children: This gentle giant is great with kids!

  • Home: Apollo is equally at home in a condo, apartment, or detached house.

  • Grooming: As a poodle, Apollo will need regular brushing plus professional grooming at least every few weeks.

  • Overall: Apollo is a great dog for someone who likes to cuddle with their canine friend and desires a nice medium size fellow.

Do you think Apollo is simply out of this world? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation is $600.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
