My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Paisley’s Backstory:

Paisley was taken into an overcrowded animal control facility where they euthanize due to lack of space. Animal Saints Rescue Society was asked to get her out safely to give her a second chance at life. Paisley was loved by someone at some point in life, but she was left as a stray and found neglected. She had never been spayed.

Breed and Hair Notes:

Paisley has hair and not fur. She is a beautiful blend of Shih Tzu and possibly Lhasa Apso. Perhaps another breed is represented as well? Whatever the blend, she is a Saint.

She has a beautiful blend of brown and white hair. She has been shaved, but it is already starting to grow out into a lovely fluff. She will have gorgeous long hair if you want it to grow out.

PLEASE NOTE: Paisley’s hair will grow indefinitely, and she will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care.

Get to Know Paisley:

Distemper vaccine: yes
Bordetella vaccine: yes
Flea and tick prevention: yes

Personality:

Paisley is all love. All she’d like to do is cuddle up in your lap and fall asleep on her back. She’s so eager to stay in a person’s lap that she’ll wrap her front legs around your arm and won’t let go. It seems she is trying to make up for lost time, so eager to love and be loved.

Even though she loves being hugged and cuddled, she has youthful energy and a love for life! She loves to run about in the garden, and we can see her being an excellent walking companion.

Potty routine:
Paisley is great about going on potty pads indoors at the sanctuary. She also goes outside whenever we take her out. To get her settled into your routine and direction for where to go potty, you’ll need to keep her in a designated place with potty pads initially or take her out every hour initially if you just want her to potty outside. This will reinforce where you want her to go.

Personality:

Paisley is so full of love and life. She greets every human with a tail wag, and she wants to interact with everyone. She is not afraid of any volunteer so far and will approach all humans who show her kindness and respect. She is sweet, loving, and so easy to hug.

What Paisley needs in her lifetime family. Is it you?

Routine and Training

Paisley’s goal in life is to be by her person’s side during the day and sleep next to them at night. With this in mind, we know she will be happiest in a home where her people are there most of the time.

Paisley is the kind of girl who would enjoy coming along with you as you run errands, too. If you’re looking for a sidekick in all things, she’s up for it!

Paisley would be okay as an only dog in a home, provided she could meet dog friends nearby often. However, we see Paisley love the company of other dogs, and she plays and wrestles a lot with the other younger fosters here in our sanctuary. If you need to be gone for a few hours every day, having other respectful dogs who like to play in the home would be great for her.

Love and Commitment

At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. We place the dogs we save into lifetime families. With this in mind, we seek families who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it’s okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don’t want to deal with emotional or physical ailments. We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family, and they will do whatever it takes to give them what they need.

Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application!

Requested adoption donation fee is a minimum of $650. This is to partly cover her medical expenses that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue incurred to give her a second chance at life.
