My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

URGENT AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA PLEASE SH@RE!! No negative comments, we just want to find a home for her! Being dog selective, a Pit mix, and being nervous of small kids puts the odds against this poor girl.

MJ was adopted from us as a puppy. Her owners are no longer able to keep her. It’s no longer a good fit for MJ. She needs a more quiet, calm home.

MJ is a 1.5 year old spayed female Pit mix. She is 50 lbs, and a BIG snuggler. She loves her people but is shy with others and doesn’t like a lot of commotion or loud noises. She would love nothing more than a game of fetch and a pile of blankets to burrow in. MJ is dog selective and particularly doesn’t do well with high energy female dogs. She is better with calm, low key dogs. No young children as they make her nervous. She is on Fluoxetine to help with her nervousness.

She is fully house trained, knows basic commands, LOVES her crate (“house”), and does not chew. She’s a bit nervous in the car but settles in. Her leash manners could be improved as she has always had a fenced yard and is accustom to a lot of space. She has a lifetime training contract with Bark Busters.

MJ is in New England.

More about this rescue

Adopt-A-Stray was founded in Jan. 2010, by Kelley Prichard. Since then, it has grown to include a few wonderful volunteers who work very hard to help ensure that our pets are place in loving, forever homes. We are based in Alexander, AR, but we list all of our available pets in the northeast. We work with several different transporters to get our babies to their new homes in the northeast once they are adopted. The transporter we use most often Pack Leaders (www.plrdogtransport.com). All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations before they leave. Every pet is seen by our vet prior to transport. If you see a pet listed that interests you, please be sure to read the description thoroughly and inquire to the email address listed. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
