My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Walter is a wiggly wonderful guy who is hoping to wiggle his way into your warm-heart! Walter is a high energy boy who loves to romp and play. He was found roaming an alley in a Philly neighborhood and brought to the shelter by animal control. Since getting to the shelter he takes to new people very quickly and is a friend to everyone he meets! He is now looking for his forever home. It seems he would thrive with an active owner who is looking for an adventure buddy.

Walter is now available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org.

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 1/7/25: Walter was loose and wiggly when I approached his kennel and he excitedly had his paws up on the door. He was easy to leash and walking he pulls moderately, but with a harness it would be no issue! Loves to romp in the play yard and he’s very fast. He ran after toys and was definitely interested in them but didn’t seem to know how to fetch. High energy boy he literally runs in circles and is so happy when he’s romping around! He knows sit and take treats very gently.

Per Staff 1/6/25: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:

KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Walter was on the door whining when the handler approached and had soft eyes and a wagging tail. He got down when the handler opened to leash him and was wiggly and doing toe taps. He was patient for leashing and once secured he did a little bunny hop out of his kennel.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls strongly

HANDLING :
In the room Walter was friendly and social with both of us! He was very handler oriented and while he would explore a bit, he just wanted to be close to us. He lacks spacial awareness and likes to be on your lap at all times when petting him with his front paws on you. He was gentle though when jumping up. He allowed all handling without any issues and would lean in when petting him, leaning against you. Showed interest in treats but would not take any.

PLAY:
-Engages in play

TOYS:
Interest but no possession

COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS:
Exp Gold

Per Staff 1/6/25: Walter did great for his intake exam, allowed all handling but was a little stressed
