My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly may be on the older side, but she is spry and still enjoys short walks. She loves to be asked to go for a walk! She is being fostered with 3 other dogs of various ages - all under 25 pounds, so with proper introduction she is ok with other dogs. In her past life, she's been accustomed to being the queen of her castle and she does get nervous about young dogs rough housing nearby, so her favorite companion dog would register a "slower gear" than puppies do. She'd LOVE being an only dog also.

Dolly is house trained, crate trained, and walks on leash well. When you ask her to "sit" for a treat, she sits up with her front paws in the air and it's simply adorable! She understands "do you need to go potty?", and "let's go outside." She is being fostered in Windsor and looks forward to meeting her new best friend. Dolly originally came to Big Bones as an owner surrender - due to her human mom moving into a care facility where dogs are not permitted, and she has been returned recently after an elderly couple adopted her as well. In this case, when the wife fell, Dolly bit the husband when he was trying to help his wife to get up. She is presently doing well in a husband and wife Foster home with 3 other dogs. She picks her "person", and that person needs to be a calm, steady leader in her life, or she may display "bullishness" toward others. She needs your snuggles, but also your leadership regarding boundaries.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
