Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Odie is a sweet little guy who likes other dogs, is housebroken and walks well on a leash until he gets on an interesting scent and then pulls a lot. In other words, he is a typical Beagle. He does bark, so he would not be a good fit for an apartment or condo. His owner had to give him up because she lost her housing. He is approximately two years old. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vet care.
Odie spent a few weeks in a foster home. They told us he needs an active owner and a fenced yard and confirmed he likes to follow his nose on walks. He would benefit from attending an introductory obedience class.
If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Our adoption fee for dogs ages 7 months to 7 years is $450. Dogs 8 years and up are $250. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.

More about this shelter
The Medfield Animal Shelter's mission is to rescue lost or abandoned animals and provide for their comfort and safety until they are reunited with their owners or placed in new homes. We are a no-kill shelter, which means no pet will ever be euthanized because it has run out of time to find a home. We are committed to ending the overpopulation of pets that results in an estimated 5 million companion pets being euthanized at shelters in the U.S. every year, therefore all cats, rabbits and dogs adopted from us are spayed and neutered prior to adoption. We also sponsor a low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats at our shelter once a month.
