My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Luna was brought in by a community member on December 24, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Luna! Luna is a hot dog loving gal with a heart full of potential and a past as quirky as she is! This lovely lady was found sitting in a shopping cart in a parking lot, but she's ready to trade aisle cruising for a life packed with fun and love. Luna's the ultimate brainy adventurer, always up for activities that keep her sharp and on her paws. Whether it's a puzzle toy or a stroll to sniff all the best smells, she's your girl! Now, Luna does have her quirks-she's not a fan of doggy playdates or off-leash escapades. Think of her as the queen of her castle, preferring to reign solo without other pets or the unpredictable energy of young kiddos. But don't worry-older, respectful kids who understand her boundaries might just win her royal approval. When it comes to training, Luna shines with positive reinforcement (aka treat bribes!). She's a smart cookie and will thrive with a patient, loving human who helps her build confidence and trust. Once she warms up, you'll see her playful, affectionate side emerge, and trust us-it's worth the wait! Ready to give this shopping cart Cinderella her happily ever after? Bring a leash, a collar, and your best adventure plans to meet Luna today!

Dog Reactive Dog:  Luna requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
