My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE!!

Meet Raven!! This sweet girl is the mother to the GSD pups we posted last month. She had wandered into a yard in Lucedale at some point and was out in their goat pen. She ended up pregnant and delivered 6 beautiful babies! We were able to secure fosters for this family and all of her babies have been placed. Raven was terrified hence she came into care and has spent the last month in her foster home learning house to be a real dog. She’s is typical of the German Shepherd breed and is extremely intelligent, eager to please and loyal to no end. She has really come out of her shell and is thriving in a real home environment. She loves her foster mom fiercely and hasn’t shown one ounce of aggression. She’s great with all size dogs. She’s on a farm and being a working pup she has a tendency to want to herd chickens and alpacas but she has never hurt anything and corrects immediately. This girl has so much potential for someone that can detonate the time to help her to continue to come out of her shell and really put time into her. She’s a totally different dog from intake and she has unlimited potential… especially with someone that has GSD experience. She is around 2-3 years old and is 50 lbs. She is utd, hw tested and spayed.

Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.

All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter!

Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you!

More about this rescue

Wags and Whiskers is a FOSTER based small rescue along the Gulf Coast. We take in dogs from local shelters, strays and from individuals who are in need of help. We can only take in dogs that we have a foster space available for and that space is limited due to the shear number of unwanted dogs in our area. Our primary veterinarian is Dr. David Martin at Parkway Animal Hospital. He oversees all medical treatment. All dogs are current on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested if they are over 6 months of age and are altered before adoption. PARKWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL DOES NOT HOUSE OUR DOGS ONLY PROVIDE MEDICAL TREATMENT! We have an adoption process that consist of an online application that can be emailed to you, reference check, meet and greet and home visit. Adoptions will not be finalized until all procedures listed have been completed. We do not adopt on a first come first serve basis but to the best home for that particular animal when there are multiple applicants.
