My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Saylor is an absolutely gorgeous little girl with her light calico coloring and distinctive facial markings! She and her brother, Anchor, were trapped at the shipyard in Norfolk when they were a few months old. She was very feral and afraid at first, but is learning to enjoy her new life as a spoiled house kitty. She’s still extremely shy and we're still working on helping her find her goofy side - she needs a forever home in a quiet household with a patient adopter who's willing to give her plenty of time and space to keep gaining confidence as she continues to come out of her shell and blossom into her best self!

She’s still getting used to being handled - she enjoys being petted when she's in her favorite spot in the kitty kennel but she’s still learning to like being approached/touched when she's out in the open. She really appreciates having a special safe spot that's separate from the general living area, like a tall cat tree or a kitty cage, where she can retreat to when she gets overwhelmed. Her foster mom loves seeing how far Saylor has come from the sick, terrified kitten she was when she first arrived in her foster home!

She loves springs and cardboard scratchers, and sleeping on the cat tree or on the top floor of the kitty cage where she feels safe. She eats wet food and dry kibble, and seems to prefer the dry. She likes treats, but won't take them from your hand…YET. What a fun goal for her forever human!

Saylor gets along fine with the other cats and two small dogs in her foster home. Due to her shyness, she would do best in a home without young children. She would enjoy having another calm and confident kitty friend in her new home, but she would be fine as an only kitty as long as she gets plenty of attention and enrichment.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application to learn a bit about the home our cats will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor-only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care and spay/neuter if needed.

We DO NOT do any out of state adoptions except on the NC border on a case-by-case basis.

We require a donation of $120 for adoption of unaltered kittens with a PTV Contract. All kittens receive vaccine series and wormings as well as medical treatment as needed. The adopter is responsible for obtaining their rabies vaccine and spay/neuter if the kitten is not of age at the time of adoption. We can provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services.

We ask a donation of $25 to adopt Career/barn cats.

We require a donation of at least $140 for adoption of Spayed/neutered cat.

Bonded pairs adoption donation is $200.

Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce feral cat population in Hampton Roads by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens for adoption into loving forever homes. We are a VDACS registered 501c3 nonprofit, founded in 2014 with over 60 foster homes.

Our heart is in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return of ferals), where cats are fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped, and allowed to live out their lives without reproducing. We are advocates for advancing legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads. Our unique feral kitten socialization program has a 90% success rate in socializing feral-born kittens to become loving, in-home pets.

We are always seeking fosters, volunteers, transporters, and trappers to join our team!
