My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 1/11/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Maximus to our trip for the right home 💙
Meet Maximus 💙 He is almost 8 months of age, born on 5/12/24. He is a shih tzu/Maltese mix. He weighs pounds. He will be considered full grown in the next couple of months, but won't be to far off from where he is now which if you ask me is a pretty great size ☺️ He is neutered, microchipped, current on all of his vaccines, had a few baby teeth extracted at time of neuter, had a great overall physical exam with our vet, and has officially been cleared to find a home all his own ❤️
He is doing very good at house training, and has been on a schedule with us throughout the day that he has done wonderfully with. He currently sleeps in the crate at night, or to nap in during the day, and has no accidents at all in there and always sleeps peacefully throughout the night waiting patiently for you to wake up so he can join your day again ❤️
He is doing pretty well on the leash, as it's new to him. He does love that it takes him out of the home to spend time with his favorite human, so he is learning quickly that leash time is a very happy time to look forward to. He is a very smart little guy, and picks up things very fast, as he aims to please and is always looking for words of affirmation and praise ❤️
He is as sweet as can be! From the moment you meet him his tail wont stop wagging. He is kind hearted, and your ultimate snuggler. Wonderful with every single human, and animal alike. (Cats, dogs, and everything inbetween!!) He has a gentle soul, and one that you'll feel the presence of the second he is in your arms 💙
He isn't a barker at all. He is naturally calm, and serene tempered. Wonderful on road trips, and likes to have one paw on you at all times when traveling 😂 it's just kind of his thing 😊
He is EASY!! Don't let his age fool you for one second. He has an old soul, and is so amazingly incredible in every single way that it's not hard at all to speak of all that makes him great ❤️❤️ He is not high energy whatsoever and is just happy being in your lap, or arms ❤️
His prior owner had a senior dog, and brought him in with the intention to keep both her and her current dog company, but her senior dog didn't like the company of another dog and became stressed having to share her environment so his owner decided it was best to find him a home where he would be loved by everyone and every animal in it.
His adoption fee is on our website under his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/maximus
It covers his neuter, microchip/registration, his vaccines, his baby teeth that were extracted, the antibiotic shot given to aid in the healing of both neuter and dental, his exam with our vet, the care associated in the time he has been with us, his grooming costs, and the training we have personally done with him 💙

Their adoption process

1.

Interview

When we have out of area adoptions, we always schedule a phone interview first to ensure the dog inquired about is the perfect fit.

2.

Home Check

We request photos/videos of your home and yard space to ensure it's safe for the dog you are inquiring about.

3.

Sign Adoption Contract

Once all requirements are met, we will schedule a travel plan to bring your pup/dog to you. Adoption contracts are usually signed in person.

4.

Pay Fee

Adoption fees are paid in person, unless other arrangements have been made due to distance/travel plans requiring fees to be paid ahead

5.

Take the Pet Home

Once all above is met, the dog becomes the new adopting families pet and goes home with them.

Additional adoption info

Please check out our website As it explains a lot there at breadoflifek9refuge.org.
Since we travel out of state and all over the US we offer transportation whether by car, or flight as long as transport costs are covered. During our initial phone interview we will discuss any and all concerns to ensure every adoption goes as smoothly as possible from beginning to end.
