Hi, I’m Tucker (estimated DOB 4/21/24)! My 3 siblings and I were trapped by a concerned citizen and brought to The Catty Shack. I was the first one to be trapped! I was so hungry and decided spending months outdoors was enough for me, so I gave in and embraced the indoor spoiled kitty life! Don’t let my “ear tip” deter you - this was accidentally done at the time of my neuter. I promise there’s nothing feral about ME!
I’m the most cuddly purr box around - just wait til you hear my loud motor! My foster mom says she loves my sweet face and my eyes, and I’m sure you will too! My favorite toys are wands and the tracks with balls - they are so much fun! When it’s time for a snooze, you can usually find me on the cat tree snuggled up with a buddy! Have you heard of Churus? They are the best treat EVER!
I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped! I’m such a sweet kitty, and I LOVE other cats and people. I definitely need another furry friend in the home - I can be adopted with a sibling, or individually if you have another cat for me to play with!

We have an adoption application to learn a bit about the home our cats will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor-only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care and spay/neuter if needed.
We DO NOT do any out of state adoptions except on the NC border on a case-by-case basis.
We require a donation of $120 for adoption of unaltered kittens with a PTV Contract. All kittens receive vaccine series and wormings as well as medical treatment as needed. The adopter is responsible for obtaining their rabies vaccine and spay/neuter if the kitten is not of age at the time of adoption. We can provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services.
We ask a donation of $25 to adopt Career/barn cats.
We require a donation of at least $140 for adoption of Spayed/neutered cat.
Bonded pairs adoption donation is $200.
Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family!

Our heart is in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return of ferals), where cats are fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped, and allowed to live out their lives without reproducing. We are advocates for advancing legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads. Our unique feral kitten socialization program has a 90% success rate in socializing feral-born kittens to become loving, in-home pets.
