My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Little Miss Sunshine is ready to find her forever home. This sweet little senior came to us when her previous mama say passed away. Previously to this, Sunshine spent the first 4 years of her life in a breeding facility, where she no doubt produced beautiful puppies. But that is no life for her. Since being in rescue, Sunshine has had a dental, a major hernia repaired, and of course had a beautiful groom. All of which she was perfect for.

This girl has goals in life! First goal, Sunshine would really like a lap to lay on. If you want a lap dog, look no further! This is the dog for you. Sunshine will stare at you and OOOOOOO at you until pick her up and place her on your lap. At bedtime, she is ready to get on your bed and sleep on your head all night. Next goal, eat! This girl loves to eat. You have a snack, Sunshine expects you to share. And again she will bark and OOOOO at you until share. When it’s time to eat, Sunshine will run in circles barking at you while you get her meal ready. She is spunky little senior for sure. She is always making her foster family laugh. Sunshine loves car rides and will go anywhere with you. Sunshine will sit quietly in the seat next to you as you drive around. She is just the sweetest little ball of fluff and love. Sunshine gets along well with other dogs in the home, but she will growl at them if they invade her space while she’s sleeping. She’s not a dog that will snuggle with the others animals in her home. People are more her thing. Sunshine does not live with cats in her current foster home, but we do not think cats will be an issue in her new home. She has a very relaxed personality.

Now, we will tell you that Sunshine is not leash trained nor is she fully housebroken. But she is perfectly pee pad trained. In her previous home the woman was elderly and didn’t take her outside so she may very well be trained to go outside. Sunshine has short little legs. She’s not able to do a flight of stairs, so you will need to be prepared to carry her up and down as needed. Again, she loves to be held so it’s not a problem, she will expect you to hold her like the baby she is, or thinks she is. Sunshine is content to be in a crate while you are at work all day. Just make sure you cover the crate or she will bark while you are away.

If you think you can give Sunshine her perfect retirement home, make sure you apply today. You won’t be disappointed by how entertaining Sunshine promises to be.

Sunshine is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, tested neg. for heartworm.  Since in rescue, she has also had a dental and a major hernia removal.  Her adoption fee is $ 400 to help with the cost of her medical bills.

Please go to our website and read about the dog there as well as all pertinent info. for adopting this dog. IF THERE IS INFORMATION NOT INCLUDED IN THE DOGS PROFILE THAT IS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHETHER ,,,GENERALLY SPEAKING,,,,THIS DOG IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR FAMILY, THEN PLEASE GO AHEAD AND EMAIL WITH THAT SPECIFIC QUESTION. We will be happy to answer questions not already covered in the thorough amount of info already printed on our website. We are all volunteers with jobs and families and probably more dogs than you, so please understand that we are very busy. We are not able to keep up with the constant general questions and phone call requests that, with a little time and reading on your part, is already included on our website. Replying to all emails makes it very difficult to do our jobs as well as we would like.
All dogs who have adoptions PENDING, will have that info printed right next to their name. Having a pending adoption does not make it a done deal, it means that we are at the home visit/meet and greet phase of the adoption and it could go one way or another so feel free to check back on the status of the dog in question.
We do not have a facility for you to come and visit our dogs. They are in our homes, sleeping in our beds and lounging on our sofa. We value our privacy and do not open our homes to visitors wanting to meet "all the dogs".
Thank you for your interest in our wonderful Pixie Mamas pooches. Without you adopters we could not continue to do what we do. We appreciate your time and effort as well ,to comply with what is needed for us to keep Pixie Mamas Rescue going with as little stress and extra time as necessary.
Our adoption fees start at $200, some highly adoptable dogs are more and others are less - that will be stated in their profiles.
Good luck in finding the right dog for your family.

More about this rescue

Pixie Mamas Rescue (PMR) is a group of volunteer dog lovers whose mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. We also assist dogs who, because of extenuating circumstances, are unable to remain in their homes. We aid in the rescue of small breed dogs. We are located in Western New York.
All PMR dogs are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. They are all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes.
All dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners.
