My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Marshmallow was brought in by a previous owner on January 4, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Marshmallow, a sweet and energetic boy who's eager to win your heart! This active pup is ready to be your partner in adventure, from hiking to camping and everything in between. Marshmallow thrives with an active family who can meet his need for both mental and physical enrichment-keeping him engaged and happy during downtime is key, as boredom can lead to some mischief (like chewing). He has a high prey drive and will need to go to a home with no cats or small animals. Marshmallow, likes to guard high-value items from other dogs so he'll need to be the only dog in the home. For this reason, a home with children aged 8 and older, who can be present for the meet-and-greet, will be the best fit. Ready to welcome this spirited adventurer into your life? Bring a leash, a collar, and your love-Marshmallow is ready to embark on his next big journey with you!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
