My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH)

DOB: 11/2023

Meet Milkshake!

Milkshake is our delightfully wobbly boy who came to Colony Cats as a stray in November of 2024. This sweet, affectionate kitty has quickly become a favorite thanks to his loving personality and charming determination.

In fact, Milkshake made quite the impression right from the start. On his very first day with us, one of our volunteers wrote in her notes that he “loves wet food and is very sweet. He immediately rolled over to show his belly.” That perfectly sums up Milkshake — friendly, trusting, and always ready for affection.

Milkshake has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). CH happens when the part of the brain that controls balance and coordination doesn’t fully develop before birth. It is not painful, not contagious, and it does not get worse over time. Cats with CH simply move a little differently — you may notice Milkshake wobble, sway, or have an unsteady walk.

Despite his wobbles, Milkshake lives a happy, active life and doesn’t let his condition slow him down. Like many CH cats, he may occasionally miss the mark at mealtime or make a bit of a mess, but with simple adjustments and a patient home he does just fine. Wobbly cats like Milkshake don’t just manage — they thrive.

Milkshake is a friendly, highly affectionate boy who loves people and enjoys attention. Because of his balance challenges, he benefits from a little extra help with things like grooming and keeping clean, but he more than makes up for it with his sweet personality and eagerness to be near his humans.

Milkshake is currently living in foster care, where he continues to charm everyone he meets. If you’d like to meet this lovable, wobbly boy, arrangements can be made through the shelter.

If you're looking for a loving, unique companion with a big heart and an adorable wobble, Milkshake may be the perfect match.

**This cat is currently in a foster home and arrangements can be made for a meeting once you have applied with us. All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV/FeLV. If interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process. Due to the large number of inquiries received, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.**

Go meet their pets

The Colony Cats Adoption Center is a completely different experience in 'sheltering' homeless companion cats. While most of our felines still live in foster homes, we now can bring them out into the public with our cage free adoption center. Cats can do what comes naturally- jump, run, climb, and play; but only until they find their way into your heart and home.

We have pledged not only to make this a completely different experience for the cats, but also for the public.
While we strive to make the adoption center as beautiful as possible, the cats within our care remain our top priority. Our firm belief as an organization is that every homeless cat deserves a chance because every cat matters. We hope that you'll come by and share with us our vision.

More about this rescue

Colony Cats is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose primary mission is to address cat overpopulation in central Ohio through public awareness and spay/neuter efforts. Since 2002, our organization has facilitated spay or neuter of 33,000 animals.

Specialized help for feral, stray and abandoned cats is a core element of our programs. We assist compassionate caregivers who are feeding and watching over homeless cats by providing TNR (trap-neuter-return) and other support services including food, shelter, vaccines and additional vet care for injuries/illness, as well as educational resources.
We also have a network of foster homes for friendly, adoptable cats and kittens - as well as dogs and puppies that we encounter while assisting cats - that have been rescued.
