My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Get ready for a Cinderella story!   This girl went from rags to riches!  Meet Figgy!

Figgy is estimated to be just about a year old or a bit under.  She was surrendered to a vet’s office in southern Missouri in life threatening condition when the family said they didn’t want her any longer.  Figgy was extremely malnourished, her body was covered in infection and weeping wounds due to mange and infested with numerous parasites, she was so diminished and weak she could barely hold her head upright.

Fast forward two months later, Figgy is thriving!

Figgy has clear skin and growing all her hair back - it is so soft but scruffy looking!  She is at a healthy weight of 31 pounds!   Figgy is potty trained and working on learning some basic commands.  She loves to play with other dogs and would be happiest with a playful pup in her forever home!

She is curious but scared of the cat in her foster home.  Figgy can be a handful for older dogs that want to nap a great portion of the day - as she is all about playing!  She is the whole party in a medium sized package!  She is affectionate and does stop for some snuggles here and there.  Belly rubs are the perfect end to a long day of play!

If you are looking for a medium sized, playful pup, Figgy may be your girl!

More about this rescue

Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need, whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters & animal controls, those who are strays, have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed.

Our organization is made up of Volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we plan to use our knowledge & experience to make a difference. We believe spaying & neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy & happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their Forever Homes.

We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved Foster Homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their Forever Family. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks & reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever Families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member. We also have an after-care specialist who will be in contact with the families after the adoption to see how well they're doing together
