If you have dreams of running a marathon, two year old Mel is not your girl. If you have dreams of a movie marathon that includes all three extended cuts of The Lord of the Rings, then Mel is definitely your girl. But make sure you turn the volume way up, because she will snore like your uncle with the deviated septum through the entire thing. Meleys had a rough starting life, but she is slowly learning how to “dog “ with her foster family, which includes two doggie foster siblings. Even though people have previously let her down, she shows no fear or resentment and will immediately throw herself into the lap of anyone she meets. She is probably not going to save your house from any would-be invaders, unless they also can’t resist her world class snuggles and adorable little piggy snorts.
Mel is small of stature, only 38 lbs, which may explain why the world can still seem so big and scary to her. She is learning to walk great on leash, but can be wary of big sounds and other dogs. She requires slow introductions to her doggie friends, but once they’re in, they’re in. Mel will happily play for short bursts and then snooze the day away next to her new companion. Mel has never had consistency and is still learning to potty outdoors only. She is not crate trained, but does well in a confined space with an accident here and there. They mostly happen when she is excited or scared. This girl is so eager to please her people, there’s no doubt that with patience and consistency she’ll learn the ropes and be the sweetest little companion.
Mel has not been kid tested yet, but does get pretty happy and jumpy around her humans. She is working on this, but tiny humans may get knocked over.

Canine Cupids' mission is to protect and improve the lives of homeless, neglected, and exceptional needs dogs and to place them in permanent, loving homes.
Canine Cupids is a Certified 501c3 Organization
DATCPLicense: 288601-DS
Canine Cupids work with animals, within our community and throughout our organization is guided by three core values: compassion, integrity and dedication.
Because every animal deserves to be loved, we feel it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless dogs, and to place them in loving permanent homes.
We strive to work with animal control agencies as well as other rescues and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets within our community.
At Canine Cupids our founding principle is that "ALL dogs are individuals and deserve to be regarded as such". This mindset is core to the belief system at The Animal Farm Foundation. It assists in securing equal treatment and opportunity for "pit bull" dogs - as well as all dogs, regardless of size, color, etc.
"We owe it to all dogs to see them for who they really are, free of prejudice, stereotypes, and assumptions that are based on a known pedigree, a breed label guess, physical appearance, or their past history."*
"Breed related traits are not guaranteed. If a dog does conform to breed traits that does not mean a dog isn't an individual! Breed characteristics may contribute to a dog?s individuality, but they are not the whole story." *
Don't judge a book by its cover and don't judge a pooch by its stereotype!
