Meet Lois, a girl who is having a tough time in the new year. She was found as a stray dog tied up to a porch in Philly and was noted to be walking with a limp. Even in her condition, she was sweet and friendly to the animal control officers!
Lois is now at the shelter and waiting for someone to save her. She has been stressed and quite vocal since getting here and wants nothing more than a cozy bed and a kind owner to spend the rest of her days. She will need some medical care for her leg and her skin allergies.
Lois is available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet her any day from 10am-6pm!

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 1/4/25: Treat motivated and vocal gal! She’s in an overflow kennel and was loose when I approached. Very easy to leash and walks well on leash! She was barking as we were walking outside. Really likes treats! She’s snatchy taking them so I recommend giving them with an open palm or tossing them. She was pretty much barking the whole time we were out in the play yard but she was loose and had a wagging tail so seemed to be more out of excitement. She waited til we got outside to go pee and poop so may be housetrained. No issues returning to her kennel!
Per Staff 1/2/25: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Lois is currently housed in a sidebank due to space. She was standing with neutral eyes, looking out. She gave some mid to high wags when approaching. She was a bit nervous of the leash and grumbled at it and tried to push out of kennel but still allowed for easy leashing.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING :
In the room Lois walked around the room with mid level wags, neutral eyes and spent her time barking at random things around the room. She seems a bit out of place and just wanders the room in confusion, vocalizing a lot. She allowed all handling from us without any issues and was tolerant, leaning in at times and doing toe taps. She would bark when new people entered the room but then approach them without issue and allow handling. She was very food motivated but is snatchy so tossing them or using an open palm is best!
PLAY:
No interest
TOYS:
No interest
COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS:
Blue
Per Staff 1/2/25: Growling and baring teeth in kennel, but will perk up for treats!
Per Staff 1/1/25: Very sweet, walk to us, easy to leash, pet & pick up
