Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name’s Nix! I was brought to CAP as the other cat in my previous home wasn’t ready for a little brother. I then needed to spend some time in a foster home, but I’m now ready to find my forever home! I’m a shy little man, but in the right home with a bit of patience and time, I’ll blossom into a great companion. Like a typical kitten, I enjoy chasing toys, and when I’m not playing, I love to eat and nap. My foster home has lots of other animals, and I don’t mind being around my foster parents’ large dogs, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of their other cats. For this reason, it may be best that I be the only cat in the home or I be adopted into a home with another cat who is calm and has experience living with other cats. I haven’t been around any children, but my foster feels I would do well with children 9 years and older once I’m settled into my forever home. My foster parents think I would be a great addition to just about any home! Could that home be yours!?

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

Dogs
A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.
Dogs (over 15 lbs) $105

Special Discounts
Seniors for Seniors - Special Senior Citizen (60 yrs +) No charge for an animal 7 yrs or older.
Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)
Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
