Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Jiggs could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a gorgeous guy who is loving and engaging. There's no question that Jiggs would also do well with a younger family with dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet dog brings to a family.
Jiggs has been identified as a 9 month old, 6 lb purebred Yorkshire Terrier with the loving temperament and sweet, and often silly personality that these little guys are famous for.
As a non-shedding dog, Jiggs will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 10 weeks) and excellent nutrition consisting of a daily salmon oil supplement and 5 star food. This protocol will keep Jiggs coat silky and healthy as well promoting longevity with great health.
We want to make certain that Jiggs is always handled with respect. He'll return that kind treatment a thousand times over with loyalty and sweetness. Jiggs is a loving, funny and playful guy, and once comfortable in his environment, is entertaining in his silly antics and the love that he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him.
Being a young and super-smart Yorkie, Jiggs loves play as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free obedience classes. These classes are so important in the bonding process as well as teaching a dog the skills (in a very positive way) to understand boundaries and commands. This creates a well-behaved partner both at home and out in the community. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.
Jiggs sad story is all too common through no fault of his own. This stunning dog ended up in a terrifying Arkansas shelter...but who could ignore his beauty, loving manner and desire to bond with anyone who could potentially be his best friend? Compassionate rescuers stepped up to save Jigg's life and requested that Farfel's accept him into our rescue. We were thrilled, and will happily welcome Jiggs to Boulder.
Jiggs may initially be a bit shy due to all the changes in his life, but give him just a minute (a belly rub and yummy treats are amazing) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming hug. Before you know it, he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. Jiggs awesome rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a Colorado home that would fall in love with this stunning guy and want to make him a permanent and very important member of their family.
At 9 months old and 6 lbs, Jiggs is a perfect size for leisurely walks in the Colorado mountains, neighborhood strolls (he's a very social guy) and backyard fun with his family. At the end of the day, Jiggs would enjoy nothing more than a warm spot on the couch or bed next to his favorite people. He enjoys his relationships with other dogs as well and would have so much fun with another playful and gentle canine companion in his family.
Jiggs would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He will be a committed and loving best friend and would be overjoyed with the opportunity to come along and be part of the fun. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Jiggs sweet temperament and love of his family.
We aren't open to a home where family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Jiggs to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Those who work from a home-based office would be perfect for this sensitive and loving guy.
Jiggs has been fully vetted and vaccinated to fulfill Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to be in line with our vision for a euthanasia-free future in the canine population.
Jiggs will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/22/2025. If interested in this loving and devoted best friend and awesome lap dog, please fill out a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Applications can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Jiggs, please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog, and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue
We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
