Taz is guessed to be a 2-3 year old Shih Tzu or possibly a Lhasa Apso. He is a handsome pup who loves to play and prance about. He is full of energy and would love to have a playful buddy! He is learning to snuggle and melts into your arms once he trusts you. He can be a bit shy at first but is quickly learning that humans are good for lots of cuddles. He is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes and rehabilitates timid, shy dogs.
He is absolutely adorable and has a silly, fun personality. He is the perfect size for snuggling and his eyes will melt your heart!
His foster mom thinks he would do better in a quiet home with adults or older children to work with him. Another confident playful dog would be great for little Taz to play with.
His foster mom has an amazing rehabilitation protocol to help these scared dogs and is working with him on potty training, socializing with dogs and humans, kennel training, doggie door training and if time permits, even leash and car training. She also has an amazing group of volunteers that meet twice a week to help socialize all the scared foster dogs in her care.
There are lots of other dogs at his foster moms house so we know he is dog friendly. His foster doesn't have any cats but thinks he would be fine with them if introduced slowly and properly.
He will need an adopter, who will give him love and patience. Please consider this adorable boy as a part of your family. He deserves kindness and will give you a lifetime of affection. The shy dogs become the most loyal dogs, who adore their humans.
His foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find a patient adopter, who is willing to help him continue gaining confidence either with in person, or virtual training session(s) This training is NOT basic obedience, but instead, is designed for rescue dogs and teaches the adopter how to work to build the dogs confidence and overcome any trauma the dog may have experienced. This training will help the family and this sweet guy adjust to their new life together quicker. She will provide a discount on training. The amount of training needed (it generally takes 1-2 sessions) will depend on the knowledge and experience of the adopter and how far along the dog is in the rehabilitation training at the time of adoption.

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
