My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Georgia is a beautiful and sweet as can be French Bulldog with a bit of Chihuahua in the mix for that extra cuteness (according to New Mexico veterinarians, all we know is that this little girl is irresistible!) We also know that Georgia deserves far better then being turned into an overcrowded shelter where euthanasia is often inevitable.

Georgia, at 10 months old and 24 lbs would be a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that very lovable and sweet companion dog. She will be by your side to hug and love on. A walk through the Colorado mountains side by side is just about perfect for this stunning Frenchie.. Nothing could make our girl happier than accompanying her favorite people everywhere a sweet and social pup is welcome.

It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these family dogs with sweet and engaging temperaments (and as beautiful as sweet Georgia) end up in precarious situations. Georgia was a last-minute save for us because we responded to a lifesaving plea that went out to save her precious life. It spoke of Georgia's sweet nature and the excellent results of her temperament testing. This wonderful pup would have been euthanized if compassionate rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This sweetheart is just an awesome blank slate with many, many healthy and active years ahead...a lifetime in which she can bring so much joy and companionship to a special family.

Georgia may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog but with love and patience, she will absolutely shine. We envision sweet Georgia with either active retirees (she would be overjoyed with the time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works from a home-based office would be perfect to love Georgia up periodically throughout the day. A friendly and gentle canine friend would be great as well. Georgia would enjoy the companionship and play / cuddle times with a furry best friend.

Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement / force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Georgia out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this important training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual or in-person trainers in your area.

For those family members who enjoy long walks on Colorado paths and trails, Georgia would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her foster mom is active and is working with Georgia on her leash skills and this active Frenchie mix is making a bit of progress each day. Georgia is always up for these outdoor adventures and fascinated by the activity around her. She breathes in the air deeply, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. And then, maybe her favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed or in her crate beside the bed of her foster mom.

As a French Bulldog / Chihuahua mix, Georgia's coat will require periodic sudsy baths with a high-quality shampoo. Her hair is very short so shedding or odors won't be an issue. Georgia will require a lifelong commitment to excellent nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement along with 5 star food is recommended for coat care and general longevity) to keep gorgeous Georgia's hair cottony- soft and very healthy.

We've requested that Georgia be spayed prior to her transport to Boulder. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too many at-need dogs and too few veterinarians in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Georgia's spay and microchip following her transport to Boulder if one of our rescue vets is used.

Georgia will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 1/8/2025.. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this super-sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Georgia, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
