Hi! It's me, Joey. I joined LL Dog Rescue when my mama had to move to a nursing home.

When I first came into the rescue I was a little round. Well, maybe a LOT round. My foster parents have been working hard to get me healthy. Great news! I am down to 24 lbs from 32 lbs. I can actually kind of run now and I feel GOOD. My foster parents and I know we have more work to do, but we have a routine now to get me living my best life.

My foster parents also tell me I'm a perfect 14-year-old senior gentleman who has good house manners and gets along great with other dogs and people. Email lldogrescue@yahoo.com for more information.

All dogs are fostered in various homes across the Greater Kansas City area. We have Adopt-A-Pets, twice monthly, where you can see all our pets and fill out an application. We will do vet reference checks, and drive by to check your fence. We place our animals with whom we feel will provide the best home for each individual animal. Every dog has different needs and these are taken into consideration when we approve an application. We reserve the right to refuse adoptions. Adoption fees vary depending on the age and condition of the dog. Our younger purebreds help defray costs for older or mixed breed dogs.

We are a 501(c)(3) Missouri Nonprofit Corporation, licensed with Missouri as an Animal Care Facility, and with Kansas as an Animal Shelter, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding new homes for unwanted dogs. We specialize in purebred toy-breed, purebred chihuahua and purebred sheltie rescue in the Greater Kansas City area both Missouri and Kansas. Many of our dogs are owner turn-ins; some are strays; others are adopted out of local shelters if their time is up. Our dogs are spayed or neutered (or adopted out under a pre-paid spay/neuter contract if under 4 months of age), heartworm checked negative, and given rabies, kennel cough and parvo/distemper innoculations. Many of our dogs are wormed, and some receive extensive dental care. We provide pre- and post-adoption education on care and maintenance of our pets, from veterinary needs to behavioral issues. The number and kind of dogs we rescue is decided solely by our foster parents on a case-by-case basis.
