My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION FEE: $100

Meet Sammy! He is a charming male leopard gecko searching for an experienced adopter who can provide him with the specialized care he needs. While we don't know much about his past, Sammy's missing toes tell us he didn't have the best start in life. Thankfully, he's been examined by a vet and is otherwise healthy and ready to thrive in a proper, loving environment!

His previous owner estimated that he's about 1 year old, but his exact age is unknown. Leopard geckos like Sammy can live up to 20 years, making them a long-term commitment. This means Sammy is your friend for life-he's not a pet to be given up after a few years when the novelty wears off.

Leopard geckos require a carefully maintained habitat with proper heating, lighting, humidity, and diet (live insects only!). Due to his unique needs and past challenges, we're only considering adopters with reptile experience that are fully committed to providing for him long-term.

To begin the adoption process for our small animals, please fill out the pre-adoption questionnaire below. Be as detailed as possible, and keep in mind that an enclosure photo will be required after we receive your form submission. Remember to keep an eye on your inbox, including the junk folder, to ensure you don't miss any emails from us about your adoption application.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
