My name is Douglas Fur. I’m a 50lb, 1-year-old Golden Retriever mix. Let me tell you a little story about how I came to be at MBR. Somehow, I ended up being on the run, but I can’t remember why. For several weeks I had to fend for myself and find my own food. Some really nice people at Remi’s Rescue managed to trap me and asked the nice people at MBR to take care of me and help find me a home of my own.
When I arrived at MBR, I was so scared, especially when people would wear hats. Those hats scared me so much. Since being at MBR I have learned to relax a little, although fast movements still startle me. Now I just love to snuggle with anyone that will sit with me. Once I’m comfortable with you, my personality really comes out and I’m just a playful boy. Since I was found on the run, it would be best for my forever family to have a fenced-in yard. I don’t want to get spooked and take off on my own again. I’m currently scheduled to be neutered so ONLY LOCAL ADOPTERS can apply to take me home. If you’re interested in meeting me, fill out an application ASAP!
All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters.

Due to recent events, we use discretion when adopting to a home with children under the age of 5 and to an adult under 23. This does not mean you are automatically disqualified, but we may require additional information.

The adoption fee for all animals listed depends on the breed/species, age, vet care, cost to pull from the kill shelter, worming medicine, flea medicine, vaccinations, micro chip, etc. The adoption fee BARELY covers all of the previous mentioned expenses. Please do not ask for us to lower the fee.

All adopters must fill out an application. Please note: Once you submit an adoption application, it could possibly take up to 10 days to process. Thank you for your patience. The dogs listed on this site are located at various foster homes throughout Ohio & some are located at a private boarding facility. Anyone wishing to visit one of our dogs or other animals must first complete an application and be an approved adopter before scheduling an appointment. Majority of scheduled appointments take place at a boarding facility in Grafton, Ohio

Please make a note that we do not transport our animals to you; you would need to come to Grafton Ohio to meet and possibly adopt.

More about this rescue

This site supports a small group of people who try to help as many animals that we can that have been displaced. All of the animals are checked by a vet, altered and updated on all vaccinations prior to going to a home.

We are all volunteers who do the best that we can with the limited funds and resources available to us. We give the potential adopter as much information as we can, including copies of all vet records but we normally do not know the history of the animals, as they are strays at the pound or taken by a humane officer from poor living conditions. Very rarely do we have owner releases. Most dogs in our program were minutes away from being put to sleep so the pound could make space for more strays.
