My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the “Nut” Kittens:  Pecan, Cashew, and Peanut.  Pecan is a beautifully marked girl (DoB about 9/1/24) who comes from a colony of kitties at an abandoned house. She is very friendly and inquisitive.  She is interested in being a lap cat, but still gets distracted by her desire to investigate. She would be a wonderful and entertaining match with her brother, Cashew and/or her sister Peanut. Her confidence suggests that she would be fine with a cat-friendly dog and nice children.  Cashew (DoB about 9/1/24) loves people, and if you stand where he can hop on your shoulder, he's on it. Like his sister Pecan, he's very inquisitive and loves to spend time investigating his surroundings. He loves to play and pounce with his siblings. We think he would do fine with a cat-friendly dog and nice children.   Peanut (DoB about 9/1/24) is the most reserved of our little 'nut' family. She's not a scaredy cat, and she does enjoy sitting by you accepting pets. She would likely be OK with a cat-friendly dog and quiet (older) children.  They are negative for feline leukemia and aids, had all three distemper and the rabies vaccines, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.  Preference will be given to local adopters and to adopters who have a young playmate companion for the kitten. We typically do not adopt kittens less than 6 months old to homes where they will be a solo pet. May be adopted separately or as a pair (discount for two!)  If interested in these cutie pies, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net

We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. The majority of our cats and kittens come from high kill shelters. Through our application and interview process, we strive to make the 'purrfect' match to insure a loving, lifelong home for those in our care. We do NOT receive funding from any national organization, federal or state governments.

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters are required to complete our application before adoption. Our adoption fee varies based on the age and breed of the cat. The fee includes testing for feline leukemia and aids, the series of distemper vaccines, the rabies vaccines, wormings, advantage so they are flea free when you take them home, a veterinary exam, and the spay or neuter. Microchipping is available for an additional $45. The adoption fee is waived for qualifying adopters interested in one of our sponsored cats.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

At this time we are not attending adoption fairs. To adopt, we ask that you first complete an application (email hhfrey1@tds.net to request and indicate the cat(s) of interest). Approved applications will be allowed to meet the cat in a home environment. Completing the application does not obligate you to adopt.

More about this rescue

Stray Connection is a small organization of private foster homes (no shelter or store-front) that takes in kittens/cats from shelters outside of Knoxville that are typically high-kill, low-funded. These cats are brought to Knoxville where they receive the necessary vet care. Because our cats live in private homes, we know them well. It is our mission to make the best match of the cat's personality and individual needs with an approved adopter.
