My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barrett is a special 4-year-old (Est DOB 6/27/2020) companion who has been patiently waiting for his forever home since he was just a year old. This sweet boy, weighing around 80 lbs, is a unique blend of charm, quirk, and loyalty, looking for that perfect match to share his love and companionship.

Barrett is a sweetheart who forms deep bonds quickly with his human companions. While he is affectionate and loving, he does have some quirks that make him stand out. He has a preference for women over men, and he is seeking a home where he can feel secure and truly be himself.

This lovable pup would thrive in a household without kids, where he can receive the attention and care he deserves. And although he may need a bit of time to warm up to new faces (both human and dog alike), Barrett is good with other dogs, especially after a proper introduction and some time to get acquainted. He adores the company of his furry friends with us on the ranch and enjoys playful interactions with them and is also content to have some alone time away from the crowd.

Barrett is a well-rounded companion who knows when it's time to play and when it's time to relax. He has low to medium energy. He loves going for walks, car rides, and enjoying the great outdoors with his person, but he's also content to lounge on the couch and cuddle up with his favorite humans for however long you want. House trained and crate trained, Barrett is a well-behaved pup who knows basic commands, listens well, and is always eager to learn more. He LOVES to play in the water.

In the right home, Barrett's affectionate nature shines through, and he becomes a total wiggle butt, craving attention and love. This loyal pup takes his role as protector seriously and will bark at strangers to keep his loved ones safe. He thrives on being his person's shadow, showering them with devotion and companionship every step of the way. With that said, he does not have separation anxiety and is happy to stay at home while you go about your day and will celebrate your return with the sweetest kisses.

If you're looking for a devoted and affectionate companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Barrett might just be the perfect match for you. Come meet this loving boy and see the joy and love he can bring to your life. Adopt Barrett today and embark on a journey filled with endless love, loyalty, and unforgettable moments together.

He would be the PERFECT match for a female individual or a VERY patient male human who is easy going and does not host company over at their home very often. He could do well in a home with a yard or a small home/apartment so long as he gets frequent walks. He's easy going and truly one of the best dogs...he simply needs a patient and strong human who will get to know his real, easy, and very sweet, personality.

More about this rescue

Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization; obtained our 501(c)3 in 2011 - ID #27-0810495
Located in Anza, CA

Kathy Haley had originally started as a rescue for abused and neglected large animals such as donkeys, llamas, alpacas, pigs, and more. At the time, she was also a volunteer at a dog rescue. After learning about the importance of rescue work, Kathy saw an opportunity to help by employing her own ideas about animal welfare, rescue and care taking the "whole animal," mind, body and spirit into consideration. A few years later, she met Lisa Ashe. Kathy and Lisa had so many ideas, dreams, and goals in common. They instantly clicked and that was when Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, was born in 2011 and have been going strong since.

At Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, we are dedicated to taking in abused, neglected, and euthanasia listed animals that deserve a second chance and need us the most.

All of our animals are:
Spayed/Neutered
Current on all vaccines
Rabies Vaccinated
Dewormed
Micro-chipped (lifetime registered & paid)
Received all proper medical care when needed (surgeries, dentals, medications, grooming, etc)

While many of our animals are sanctuary or "permanent residents", we do have lots of adoptable pets who are patiently waiting for their forever homes.
We are unique in the fact that our dogs do not live in kennels; instead they live with us in our home on about 5 acres of property located in Anza, CA or they are in foster homes in and around the Temecula, CA area. They have full access to our home and property and sleep inside with us at night.
This ensures that our pets are well adjusted and perfectly suited to become a part of your family.

Because the sanctuary is also our home, we do not have regular public visiting hours but we do have many visitors.
We just have to arrange it to fit the schedule of our animals, ourselves, and you.
