This grandpa has everything that you could ever want in a companion; handsome looks, a sweet & spunky disposition, and endless love to give! Frog's hobbies include fetch, tug, walks, spending time with his people, and a big snooze on the couch when it's all over. He is ready to spend the rest of his golden years being loved on, and has so much warmth and adoration to share in return!
Frog had a really wonderful life with his previous owner and his four-legged siblings who he adored, but he only got to have 9 months with them before they sadly passed away. He first came to us last year after he was found by police emaciated and tied to a park bench with another dog, and he managed to win over the hearts of many officers, staff, and volunteers before heading into foster care.
His foster parents have all described him as a happy little guy that loves spending time indoors and outdoors when the weather is nicer, and who is always game to hop in the car to tag along for errands and other adventures that he's able to participate in. Even in older age he is a very playful guy, and while he may not (quite yet) have a 100% success rate with bringing the ball right back to you like "fetch" might imply (although he's pretty close!), he'll be sure to keep himself and everyone else involved entertained during any and all activities.
Frog has lived with a dog and several cats in the past, and could join a home with other calm and respectful furry roommates after slow introductions. He is mellow and quiet when hanging out at home, and generally a pretty easygoing walker when he isn't getting excited about squirrels that cross his path when he's out and about. He's historically been a great houseguest and very well-behaved in his past homes, in addition to being completely housebroken, and knowing "sit" and "down".
In addition to being a very affectionate goofball, Frog is also a sensitive guy and he can be a bit of barky busy body during stressful times—like with more time on his own than he'd like, and medical handling. He will require patience and understanding as he works through undergoing even more transition when heading into his adoptive home, and will show so much appreciation for being able to take things at his own pace.
Frog has a few medical needs that are pretty typical for a dog his age like arthritis as well as allergies. He would do best in a home where he doesn't have to climb lots of stairs throughout the day or to go outside, and he takes daily pain medication that helps him continue to hop around happily and comfortably—the only way this type of Frog knows how.
He is a very special once in a lifetime senior pup that won't have you questioning why he charms every person that he meets. We could go on and on boasting about how wonderful Frog is, but you'll just have to see and find out for yourself, and apply to adopt him!
