Osita is a 5 year old, 55 lb Pit Bull mix with a big heart and a very healthy respect for personal space.
Let’s talk about "bubbles" for a second...You know, personal space. The kind we all appreciate.
Osita feels the same way.
She is not reactive and can calmly pass other dogs on walks or while out and about, but she does not want to share her home or her personal space with other animals. No small dogs, no big dogs, no cats, and no critters. And honestly? That’s okay. Some of us prefer a quiet, peaceful home too.
What Osita does love is people. She adores attention, enjoys meeting new humans, and is friendly with anyone she crosses paths with, even if they’re outside her “bubble.” (meaning strangers). She’s affectionate without being overwhelming and has strong cat-energy in the best way: independent, observant, and deeply loyal to her people...though if a stranger has a yummy treat in hand then she will be loyal to them!
Kids, however, are just too much for her. They’re loud, unpredictable, and don’t always understand boundaries. So Osita is looking for an adult-only home where things stay calm and respectful.
No, she is certainly not for everyone, but she is perfect for someone. She’s an absolute dream for the right lifestyle. Osita loves walks, hikes, car rides, outings, and lunch dates. She’s confident in public and makes an excellent adventure buddy. She does not have separation anxiety, but she is smart and athletic enough to hop a fence if left outside unattended, so she’ll need a secure setup and a knowledgeable human.
Osita isn’t “difficult.”
She’s just specific....maybe a tad bit special as mama calls it.
She’s looking for an experienced dog owner, someone who either enjoys working with a project dog or simply understands and respects a dog who prefers a small, trusted circle. Someone who wants their dog, not everyone’s dog.
We know her person is out there.
A quiet home.
No other pets.
No kids.
Just mutual respect, loyalty, and love.
Someone who will give her a chance (everyone needs one).

More about this rescue
Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization; obtained our 501(c)3 in 2011 - ID #27-0810495
Located in Anza, CA
Kathy Haley had originally started as a rescue for abused and neglected large animals such as donkeys, llamas, alpacas, pigs, and more. At the time, she was also a volunteer at a dog rescue. After learning about the importance of rescue work, Kathy saw an opportunity to help by employing her own ideas about animal welfare, rescue and care taking the "whole animal," mind, body and spirit into consideration. A few years later, she met Lisa Ashe. Kathy and Lisa had so many ideas, dreams, and goals in common. They instantly clicked and that was when Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, was born in 2011 and have been going strong since.
At Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, we are dedicated to taking in abused, neglected, and euthanasia listed animals that deserve a second chance and need us the most.
All of our animals are:
Spayed/Neutered
Current on all vaccines
Rabies Vaccinated
Dewormed
Micro-chipped (lifetime registered & paid)
Received all proper medical care when needed (surgeries, dentals, medications, grooming, etc)
While many of our animals are sanctuary or "permanent residents", we do have lots of adoptable pets who are patiently waiting for their forever homes.
We are unique in the fact that our dogs do not live in kennels; instead they live with us in our home on about 5 acres of property located in Anza, CA or they are in foster homes in and around the Temecula, CA area. They have full access to our home and property and sleep inside with us at night.
This ensures that our pets are well adjusted and perfectly suited to become a part of your family.
Because the sanctuary is also our home, we do not have regular public visiting hours but we do have many visitors.
We just have to arrange it to fit the schedule of our animals, ourselves, and you.
