Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Spooky came into rescue with her two siblings, Hank The Tank and Cowboy, also listed. The pups were found as strays along with their mother at a very young age. Their finder stated that they were nearly hairless and bloated from worms. They kept them until they were old enough to be weaned from mom and treated them for all of their issues. They attempted to find homes for the pups (they kept mom) but were unsuccessful and asked is to help get these youngsters adopted. We think their birthdate was around 7/28/24. Of course, we don't have exact dates since they were strays but that was the best guesstimate. We also are thinking that the pups are great dane/catahoula and probably a few other breeds in the mix too but they are big puppies for their age. They aren't extremely tall but solid, sturdy dogs. May have some lab in there somewhere too. They are friendly pups who love attention. They also love to eat!We feel that they would do well with older kids (because of their size) and other dogs. We are unsure of cats but if adopted young enough, they should be able to socialize and successfully enter a cat home also. They are still young pups so they have a lot to learn. They will require training as they are not yet housetrained or crate trained and do not yet know a leash. They will also need to learn proper doggie etiquette and "manners" to become the best dogs that they can be. They will want to chew so be sure to have lots of appropriate toys and chew items to keep them busy and not chewing on things you don't want them to. Being big dogs, they will need a fenced yard, outings to dog parks or regular walls to get the exercise, outside space and play time they need. We feel that they will be wonderful companions with the right guidance and experiences.
Spooky saw the vet on 12/30/24 and was found to have no issues noted. She has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention but she is still too young for a heartworm test. She can continue to be maintained on monthly prevention (like Simparica Trio or prevention of your choice) until old enough to be tested or her annual checkup. She did test positive for hookworms and roundworms on her fecal so we have given her a Drontal for the intestinal parasites. She may need a follow up in 3 weeks. Spooky weighed 32.4 pounds as of 12/30/24. At only 5 months of age, she still has a lot of growing to do and we anticipate that she will be a big girl.
If interested in giving Spooky her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Spooky's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Spooky based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
