I’m an adorable 8-year-old, 22-pound female beagle with big brown eyes. Four years ago, I was a Midwest BREW beagle adopted by an elderly lady. My mom well cared for me and I lived with her and my beagle brother, Buddy. When my mom passed away, I went to my Midwest BREW foster home, and now I’m ready for my forever home.
I adapted quickly to my new foster home. I like being with my foster parents, but if left alone, I am more comfortable if my beagle brother is home with me. I like to be near my parents, give them lots of kisses, lie on the couch next to them (but not in their laps), and greet them enthusiastically when they come home. I’m fine when the grandkids come to visit but welcome the calm when they go home.
I like going out in the yard and will sniff around a lot as beagles will do. Eventually, I pee and poo outside but it’s a good idea to come out with me and make sure I do my business. I get let out often as my foster parents are home a lot. I sleep all night in a crate in my parent’s bedroom. I settle right down after I get my treat. I go for a walk every day and love to sniff and look out for other people and dogs. I will potty while on a leash. Although I’m considered an older dog, I like my walks and romping in the yard. I do fine on car rides. When food or treats are coming, I perform my very delightful tap dance.
I like having another dog in my home. I follow him around and see what he’s barking at in the yard or by the big window. I’m not particularly playful but sometimes we cuddle up together on the couch. I’m not very interested in toys, but I do like to chew on a Nylabone or elk antler. I love to get treats and will work on a Kong with peanut butter for quite a while.
I will be most comfortable in a calm home with another dog, and grown-ups who are home a lot. I will bring a lot of joy to my forever family.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

More about this rescue

Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare, Inc is a 501(c)3 non profit, all-volunteer organization located in the Midwest, funded by donations and dedicated to rescuing beagles from high-kill shelters. Our foster homes provide loving temporary care until we are able to find them well matched, carefully screened forever homes. By working with local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities we are able to give proper medical care to the beagles in our program. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. We adopt beagles to families within Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and have also placed beagles into loving homes in Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
