My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Is it a stuffed animal? A tiny, yappy dog in disguise? A polar bear cub who wandered off course? Nope, it’s just Rowdey, the Great Pyrenees extraordinaire, here to melt your heart! Though to be fair, with his fluffy white coat and oversized paws, he might be part polar bear—you never know what might be hiding in his DNA!

Rowdey is a 10-week-old, 23-pound Great Pyrenees puppy, and yes, you read that right—23 pounds of pure fluff and mischief at not even three months old. If you're looking for a petite lap dog, let me stop you right here because this boy is destined for greatness—or at least greatness in the 100+ pound range (give or take, maybe he’ll stop at mini polar bear or surprise us all and go for “full-on mythical beast.) With great fluff comes great responsibility, folks, and Rowdey is ready to challenge your patience while stealing your heart. Rowdey comes with all the classic Great Pyrenees features: a majestic coat, an independent streak a mile wide, and the uncanny ability to pretend you don’t exist when you call him. Picture this: you’re at the door, pleading for him to come inside. His response? Option A: A dramatic, judgmental stare before resuming his “very important” yard patrol. Option B: Complete and total selective hearing. It’s like asking your husband to do the dishes during a football game—sure, he says he’ll do it, but you know how that’s going to end. Spoiler: you’re on your own. And let’s talk fur—because, oh boy, Rowdey is going to share all the love, in the form of glipyr (that’s Pyr glitter, for the uninitiated). Forget fur-free living; Rowdey will gift your floors, furniture, and wardrobe with enough fluff to build a second dog. You’ll still be finding his tumbleweeds long after he is gone, like a fabulous, furry legacy. Embrace it, or invest in a really good vacuum (or three), the choice is yours.

Rowdey is your classic puppy package: playful, curious, and a professional pest to every living being in his vicinity. He’s the kind of dog who’ll be your other pup’s BFF, attempt to charm the cats (whether they’re on board or not), and absolutely adore kids. After all, Rowdey sees kids as tiny, snack-dropping two-leggeds who share his love for chaos and naps—a match made in heaven, if you ask him. But life hasn’t always been a walk in the park for Rowdey. He and his brother Rastus were found abandoned, so he’s understandably cautious with new people. Rowdey likes to hang back, size you up, and make sure you’re Pyr-worthy. And honestly, can you blame him? He’s a Great Pyrenees, not a Golden Retriever. These majestic flufflords aren’t about to roll out the welcome mat for just anyone. They’re connoisseurs of character, masters of the side-eye, and gatekeepers of their inner circle. Basically, if Rowdey accepts you, it’s like getting a gold medal in “Human Worthiness” from the Pyr Olympic Committee. Once you’ve earned his trust, though, Rowdey will be your ride-or-die, your yard patrol buddy, and your fluffy therapist. He’s got a lot of love to give—he’s just making sure you’re ready to handle all the greatness that comes with it.

Rowdey has one of the most sought-after energy levels in the dog world: the perfect balance of nap enthusiast and occasional adventure buddy. He’s all about snoozing like a pro, but he’ll happily join in for fun and bonding time with his people. Does this mean you can take him on runs? Absolutely not—this boy was built for leisure, not speed. Can he play fetch? Well, let’s just say Rowdey thinks fetch is a game of “you threw it, so now it’s yours to go get.” His deadpan stares will make you question your life choices as he sits there wondering why you thought it was a good idea to chuck his toy. Walks, though? Absopyrlutely. Just don’t expect to set any land-speed records. Rowdey likes to take his time, savoring every scent like he’s reading the neighborhood’s daily gossip column. And if he gets tired mid-walk? Well, congratulations—you just became the proud owner of a fluffy deadweight workout. Get ready to lug 60 pounds plus of adorable stubbornness home, with his soulful eyes silently judging your lack of preparedness for this moment. He’d likely enjoy accompanying you to new places, but let’s be real—he’s a Pyr. His internal monologue probably goes something like, “Why did we leave my comfy nap spot at home for this nonsense? Humans are so weird.” At home, Rowdey is all about the simple pleasures. He adores playing with tennis balls, but don’t be fooled into thinking he’ll appreciate your fancy toy purchases. Nope, this is the kind of dog who’ll ignore the expensive, squeaky wonder you picked out and instead devote his full attention to the cardboard box it came in. Because, in Rowdey’s world, boxes > toys, naps > walks, and you > everything else.

f you’re expecting Rowdey to be potty trained already, go ahead and give yourself a good ol’ donk on the forehead—like those people in those old V-8 commercials. But instead of muttering, “I should have had a V-8,” you can say, “I should have had a more realistic expectation about a 10-week-old puppy!" Rowdey’s not there yet, folks. He’s still working on the whole “outside” thing, and sometimes, the bathroom just happens to be wherever his adorable little paws land. Now, as for chewing? You better believe that’s part of the deal. Having a puppy is pretty much like having a toddler—everything must be put up, locked away, and hidden in places that only you can reach. Otherwise, it’s just a matter of time before Rowdey’s got a new chew toy, and spoiler alert: it’s probably something expensive you didn't think he could reach. Your shoes? Definitely on the menu. Your favorite throw pillows? Sorry, they’re now chew toys, too. The good news? It’s just a phase! And while only time will tell if Rowdey turns into a big chewer or a rare unicorn puppy who exclusively gnaws on his toys (we can dream, right?), it’s best to be prepared for either scenario. Consider it your new hobby: puppy-proofing your home. Trust us, you’ll get really good at it. But hey, the good news is, once this phase passes, Rowdey’s bound to be the snuggliest, most lovable fluffball around—just with a few more chew toys in tow.

If Rowdey’s fluffy charm has stolen your heart and you’re ready to welcome him into your home, get ready for a wild, fluffy adventure! To start, simply fill out the adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. Once we’ve got it, we’ll send it over to his foster family to make sure you two are the perfect match—because Rowdey is looking for a forever home.

Currently living the high life in Purcell, OK, Rowdey is all set to find his happily ever after, but if you’re not local, how about a road trip? Rowdey is too royal for commercial transport—he deserves the full VIP treatment. Plus, a scenic drive is the perfect chance for you to bond before and after he becomes your new best friend.

So, buckle up for the adventure of a lifetime—because Rowdey is ready to find the humans who will make his next chapter just as fabulous as he is!
