My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Verona – Your Perfect Mix of Fun and Love!

Verona is a beautiful 2-year-old, 40-pound Pit mix with a heart as big as her adorable snorks and grunts. This sweet girl is the perfect balance of playful and cuddly, making her a wonderful addition to any loving home.

Personality: Verona adores all people, dogs, and even cats (if they’re open to her friendship). She’s been thriving in her foster home, where she gets along great with her furry foster siblings and loves the companionship of another dog. Verona has a unique charm with her cute pig-like snorks and soft snores, which only add to her endearing personality.

Living Situation: Verona is fully potty trained and enjoys sleeping with her humans at night. While she’s crate-trained and will go in when needed, she does just fine left out, proving herself to be trustworthy around the house.

Playtime and Treats: Verona is a toy enthusiast who loves anything peanut butter or pumpkin-flavored. She thrives on playtime, car rides, and leisurely walks, doing well on a leash.

Family Friendly: Verona gets along wonderfully with humans of all ages, making her a great fit for families, couples, or singles looking for a loyal companion.

Ideal Home: Verona would do best in a home with another dog to keep her company and share in her playful adventures.

This sweet, fun-loving girl is ready to bring her unique sounds, adorable snores, and endless love to her forever family. Could that be you?

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
