My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Barbie! This sweet senior is looking for a soft bed to spend her golden years in. She was found in someone’s backyard, and they brought her to ACCT in hopes she’d find her owner. While in our care she’s shown how sweet she is. She loves head scratches and pets, keeps her kennel clean and even rides well in the car! As a senior she is overlooked in her kennel, while she sits and politely wags her tail at people who walk by. But she’s hoping someone looking for a laid back dog who is also up for a nice long stroll will open their heart and home to her!

Behavior:
Per staff 1/2 Barbie did great going to the Fox29 segment! She hopped into the car on her own, and rode nicely in the backseat the whole way there. Once we got out, she greeted the visitors in the green room, and sniffed around. She did very well for the segment, with the host petting her all over. She was a bit nervous with the camera, as she stopped wagging her tail for a bit and also averted her eyes. Afterward we walked in the park and she peed and pooped, and she sniffed around the park. She would check in with me as well. She was a bit more nervous of the camera (it was no longer stationary on the tripod) so balked a bit at coming towards it, but that's understandable! We had no issues walking back to the studio, doing another take nor on the way home (she slept in the car). She will really make a nice best friend for someone.

Per volunteer 1/1/25: Crunchy old lady lovers. WOW. Barbie is a love.

Barbie is a senior pitty who is house trained, pretty deaf, lil head tilt with her Dorito ears, needs a dental and so sweet. She had a few meets with 4 dogs and did fine. She gave appropriate correction (closed mouth every time) when she didn't want a dog up in her business, approached her without knowing etc. I would place her with a similar, uneventful coexisting dog. She did totally fine just hanging out, walking closely and interacting without forced interaction. She is such a love - loves people and food motivated. Said hi to dogs in kennels passing including some smalls barking at her. i doubt she would be bothered by a cat if she could even move that fast. Another old gem who shouldn't be in a kennel
