My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rhino!

Rhino is a 3-year-old Cane Corso searching for his fur-ever home! This behemoth might look intimidating at first, but beneath his tough guy exterior, he's truly a big love bug! While he can be a bit shy and uncertain when meeting new people, once he lets his guard down, he's an affectionate and loyal boy, who forms deep, long lasting bonds with those who are lucky enough to be considered his friends.

This big boy is smart and eager to please, making him a treat-motivated learner who's excited to show off all his tricks. Whether he's running through the fields or chasing after toys, Rhino loves to burn off energy. But when playtime is over, he's just as happy to relax on his bed and enjoy some good cuddles. Rhino is particular about which other dogs he likes, he isn't a fan of intact male dogs, and can be reactive at times. He would need slow introductions to make new doggie friends.

The Cane Corso, is a breed of mastiff dog descended from Molossian war dogs of ancient Rome and subsequently bred in Italy as a versatile farm dog and guardian. The Cane Corso's protective nature may have inspired its name, which comes from Latin and can be translated as "bodyguard dog" or "guard dog of the courtyard." In addition, it is able to subdue large prey, including wild boars and badgers, and can herd livestock. The two World Wars decimated the breed in Italy, and it remained rare until the 1970s, when a concerted effort was made to revive the breed.

Rhino's ideal owner would be experienced with large, assertive breeds, have the confidence to set boundaries, and create a structured, stable environment to help him thrive. Someone who is capable of handling his strength, and size, with a large back yard in which to facilitate a healthy amount of mental and physical stimulation is key!
