When we spied Howard at Chicago Animal Care and Control we let out a gasp! This densely packed boy is absolute perfection with his giant head, short leggies, and calm demeanor. He is truly magnificent and stole our hearts right away!
When we first took in poor Howard in early December he had a pretty nasty upper respiratory infection. He landed a great foster home that helped him through that, and he is a strong healthy boy now.
Howard's foster mom just loves him. She does work full time out of the home, and Howard is left to free roam, but does have occasional accidents when left that long. On the weekends when she is around more, this is not an issue at all, so he is still working up to being left a full workday accident-free. Howard loves dogs of all sizes and is not reactive at all. He is easy and pleasant to walk on a leash, and he loves everyone he meets. Howard enjoys car rides, too!
Howard's foster mom wrote on his behalf:
"Hello, my name is Howard and I am a gentle giant. I am a big boy with a warm heart. I love nothing more than to nap and relax on the couch cuddling up to my foster mom. She even puts on this thing called "dog tv" for me and I love to watch the squirrels but do not understand why I can see them but I can't smell them. I do not mind at all being a crate and just lie down and nap when my foster mom puts me in there when she is cleaning the house. I walk really well on the leash and love greeting people I see on my walks. I do not really like to walk for a long time. After I am done with my business, I just lead my foster mom back home so I can continue to relax on the couch. I also give the best paws for treats and I especially love to chew on treats. The harder the better! I am also not picky when it comes to food but I do love to eat a combo of wet and dry! I am just a gentle boy and would love a home where I can relax on a nice couch and give the best cuddles."
Howard’s adoption fee is $250. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
