Meet Amps, Amps is part of a large group of cats called ‘the electricians.’

The electricians came from a tough living situation and have been waiting patiently for their chance to find furever homes. They can be very shy and reserved with new people but are very sweet cats once they trust you. They will need patience and understanding while they adjust to their furever homes. Due to their past, the electricians MUST be adopted to homes as pairs OR to a home with another outgoing feline friend. The electricians must remain on a probiotic for life and rely heavily on wet food. Staff is more than happy to talk with potential adopters about their medical needs as well as go into more detail about their past during a meet and greet.

Amps is a very affectionate girl who always craves attention. She will follow you around a room and give little taps with her paws asking for pets. She is very playful and always enjoys a good stuffed mouse or spring to play with. Amps has a neurological condition which makes her a bit wobbly at times! She makes her way around just fine and doesn`t require any modifications in the home.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an pre-adoption application. If that application is approved, the dog/cat must be spayed/neutered before it leaves our shelter (if not already done). If it is a puppy under 4 months old, we allow it to go home with the adopters under a foster care agreement until it is old enough to be returned for spay/neuter. Kittens are allowed to leave before spay/neuter is done, but they must be done within a certain time frame.
Fees: Dogs/puppies range from $150-300, depending on if they came in already spayed/neutered or if we paid to have that done.
Cats range from $80 - $140, though we often have deals on older cats or cats that have been there a long time.
Kittens are $60 with $25 refunded once it has been spayed/neutered.
All adoptions include at least the first vaccination, deworming, de-fleaing, microchip ID, and 6 weeks of pet insurance.

Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward is a non-profit animal shelter serving Hastings & Prince Edward Counties. Each year we assist as many as 2000 animals in need. We provide a safe, caring environment for stray, surrendered, neglected or abused animals. We return hundreds of lost animals to their families, adopt out animals who are in need of a new home and provide medical care and other necessities for animals in distress.
