RESCUE ONLY DEADLINE 5PM 01/07/24 Name: Greta Animal ID: A858640 Age: 5 years Weight: 52.8 lbs. About: Greta is a sweet 5-year-old Shepherd mix who is hoping to find her forever home. Greta came to PACC along with her companion, Ozzy (A858639). These two friendly dogs were strays that had been frequenting a neighborhood property since the end of August.
Unfortunately, an incident occurred when a small dog living on the property was fatally injured. While trying to intervene, the small dog`s owner was bitten by one of the Shepherds. Due to the quickness of the incident and the dogs` similar appearances, the owner was unable to identify which dog bit them.
It’s critical to note two things- one, that the bite to the person was not intentional and was the byproduct of the sad event with the smaller dog, and two, that dogs who are allowed to roam freely can display behaviors that are not indicative of their behavior in a home.
Greta has shown a friendly and easygoing personality during her stay at PACC. She has been pleasant to handle by our staff and has participated in playgroups with other dogs. While initially nervous, she remained tolerant and appropriate with her canine companions.
Greta is looking for a loving and responsible home where she can thrive. She will need a secure yard and a dedicated owner who can provide her with the love, attention, and exercise she deserves. Due to the nature of the incident, she needs to be placed in a home without small animals.
Greta deserves to experience life with a family who is committed to keeping her safe and secure. She has so much potential to be a wonderful companion. Important Note: Greta and Ozzy must be adopted into separate homes.
Adoption Process: Interested parties: •Must visit PACC before the 5:00 PM January 7, 2024, deadline to meet with an adoption counselor who will go over notes and then introduce you to ensure that it’s a good fit. •Are encouraged to reach out to a rescue group ASAP (even before coming to PACC), to start the rescue approval process. Have the rescue contact PACC atPACC.UrgentDogs@pima.gov if approved to pull. Collaboration with Rescue Groups: •Rescue groups are encouraged to reach out to PACC early if they are able to pull this animal into their rescue (and what requirements they would have: interested adoptive party, alteration etc.) •If an IP has not already contacted a rescue, PACC will no
