My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lana and Leslie are 8-month-old sisters, born with their brother in someone's backyard.  Because they lived strictly outdoors for the first 3 months of their lives, they were a bit wary of humans so they spent 6 weeks getting socialized in one of our wonderful foster homes before arriving at the shelter.  Their brother was adopted soon after arrival, and Lana and Leslie are bravely getting more accustomed to humans, thanks to the loving volunteers who have been caring for them at the shelter for the past three months.

Leslie, the beautiful medium-haired brown tabby, is learning to enjoy some head pets and ear scritches as she starts to come out of her shell at her own pace.  Lana, the sweet short-haired tuxedo, has been following her sister's lead and is starting to let volunteers touch her paws through the cage.  Both girls are very interested in watching the other cats and kittens play with the volunteers, but they have been somewhat reluctant to join in as loud noises and chaos are still a little scary for them.

Lana and Leslie would do best getting adopted together, into a quiet home with no young kids and no loud dogs.  Their ideal owner(s) would need to be patient with them and show them that humans are not scary things.  Lana and Leslie are becoming quite food-motivated (they LOVE their wet food), so yummy food and treats will go a long way to bring them out of their shells!  They also love to play with string toys and their circular "ball pyramid", and they really enjoy batting the balls back and forth between each other.

We are still learning their personalities as they slowly open up with the chaos of the shelter around them, but we believe they will make great progress once they are in a quieter environment where they feel safe and free to play in their indoor home.  We have no doubt they will turn into loving and affectionate cats once they become more confident and comfortable with lots of patience and love from their humans!

If you are interested in meeting them feel free to stop in during our Open House hours:  Thursdays from 6:00-9:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am-4:00pm.
